# AI Chat Bot for QR Codes and Links: Collect Leads by Conversation

> Put an AI chatbot behind a QR code or link. Your agent chats with each visitor in your page theme, answers from your knowledge, and saves every answer on their profile. Every plan.

AI chat bot

# A QR code that talks to the people who scan it.

Add a **Chat bot** step to any QR code or link. An agent you build chats with each visitor in your page theme, answers from what you taught it, and saves every answer on their profile. Then the workflow routes on what it learned.

* Every plan, free included
* Answers saved on the visitor
* No code

Use cases

## One step, eight industries.

Each example is a Chat bot step on a printed QR code: who the agent is, what it collects, and where the visitor goes next.

Sofia

How it works

## Configured like a form. Felt like a conversation.

1. Step 1
### Create an agent
In Agents, or straight from the workflow editor. Give it a name visitors see, a role (Lead qualifier, Event concierge, Feedback collector, Product expert, Support FAQ or Custom) and a tone.
2. Step 2
### Teach it your business
Knowledge is Markdown: write it in place or upload .md files. Menus, price lists, an FAQ, a product sheet. The agent answers from it and nothing else when you turn on Only answer from knowledge.
3. Step 3
### Add a Chat bot step and list what to learn
Each item has a label, the visitor attribute key it is saved under, a type, an explanation the agent reads, and whether it is required.
4. Step 4
### The visitor chats in your page theme
Someone scans the QR code or opens the link and the chat opens in your colours and fonts. The agent asks one thing at a time and never asks for what it already knows.
5. Step 5
### The workflow goes on along one of two exits
Completed when every required answer is known, Not completed otherwise. Leave Not completed unconnected and it follows Completed.

The two exits

 Completed

Every required item is known, from the chat or already on the visitor's profile.

 Not completed

The visitor skipped or stopped, reached the message limit, the workspace is out of credits, or the model failed.

Agents

## Your agent, your rules.

Almost every setting is a preset you pick, refined by a free-text field when you need it. Changes save as you go and apply to every link that uses the agent.

[How to create an agent](https://linkbreakers.com/help/article/how-to-create-an-agent)

### Role and instructions

Lead qualifier, Event concierge, Feedback collector, Product expert, Support FAQ, or Custom with only your instructions.

### Tone and reply length

Friendly, Professional, Playful, Concise or Enthusiastic, with style notes. Short, Medium or Detailed replies.

### Visitor questions

Answer, then steer back. Answer briefly. Collect only. Or free conversation. You decide whether it answers at all.

### Guardrails

Stay on topic, Only answer from knowledge, No promises, No competitors, No professional advice, Decline offensive requests, plus your own rules.

### Language and emoji

Speaks the visitor's language by default, or always one language you choose. Emoji on or off.

### Used in

One agent serves as many links as you like. Its page lists every link whose Chat bot step uses it.

The Chat bot step

## Short chats, answers you can route on.

### Skip when already known

Visitors whose required answers are already on their profile pass straight through on Completed.

### Messages a visitor can send

Keeps every chat short. When the limit is reached the chat ends and the visitor moves on.

### Opening message

Write the first line yourself, or let the agent greet visitors in its own words.

### Skip button

Optional. A visitor who skips goes on along Not completed, with whatever they already answered saved.

Where the answers go

* Each answer is checked like a form field and saved on the visitor's profile under its key. Email, names and phone fill their identity.
* Visitor data conditions after the chat route on the answers right away, numbers included: budget at least 700,000 goes one way, the rest another.
* The visit's activity timeline shows how the chat ended, every answer, and the full conversation.
* Slack notifications and webhooks receive the chat's outcome and answers, and a chat that collected answers reaches Google Analytics 4 as generate\_lead.

Said plainly

* The agent knows its instructions and knowledge, nothing live: no stock levels, availability or prices it was not given.
* A choice answer is one value. A step learns up to 10 items.
* Booking, CRM entries and follow-up emails are the next workflow steps or a webhook, not the chat itself.
* A chat is recorded once per visit: reloading the page shows the same conversation.

What it costs

## On every plan. Paid per message, in credits.

### Per message, from real usage

Each message the agent answers costs platform credits, worked out from the AI model's token usage, with a fixed cap per message.

### Agents are free

Creating and editing agents costs nothing, neither does an opening message you write. Visitors never pay.

### Out of credits? It skips

When the workspace runs out, visitors skip the chat and go on along Not completed, so the printed code keeps working.

Monthly platform credits per plan, and top-ups, are on the [pricing page](https://linkbreakers.com/pricing). Typical per-message figures are in the [Chat bot guide](https://linkbreakers.com/help/article/how-to-add-an-ai-chat-bot-to-a-qr-code#what-it-costs).

FAQ

## Frequently asked questions

AI chat bots on QR codes and links, in practice.

Can I put an AI chatbot behind a QR code?

Yes. In Linkbreakers you add a Chat bot step to the workflow of a QR code or link and pick one of your agents. Whoever scans the code chats with that agent on a page in your theme, and each answer it collects is saved on their visitor profile.

Is an AI chat bot better than a form for capturing leads?

It depends on the questions. A form is faster for two or three fixed fields. A chat suits questions that need context, such as a budget, a project or a timeline, because the agent can answer the visitor's own questions first and asks one thing at a time. Both save answers to the same visitor profile, so you can use either on each link.

Does the chat bot answer visitor questions?

That is the agent's Visitor questions setting: answer then steer back to what it needs to learn (the default), answer briefly, collect only, or free conversation. It answers from the knowledge you wrote for it, and with the Only answer from knowledge guardrail it says it does not know rather than guessing.

What does a chat bot conversation cost?

Each message the agent answers costs platform credits, worked out from the AI model's token usage for that message, with a fixed cap per message. Creating agents is free and visitors never pay. Every plan includes platform credits, and when a workspace runs out, visitors skip the chat and the QR code keeps working.

Which plans include the Chat bot step?

Every plan, the free plan included. Its messages use the workspace's platform credits.

What happens when a visitor stops answering?

The workflow continues along the Not completed exit, which also covers the skip button, the message limit, running out of credits and a model failure. Whatever the visitor already answered stays on their profile.

Can I use the same agent on several QR codes?

Yes. Agents belong to the workspace, and each Chat bot step that uses one has its own list of things to learn. The agent's page lists every link it is used in.

Is an agent the same as the Linkbreakers Assistant?

No. The Assistant helps you build and analyse inside Linkbreakers. An agent is what you build to talk with the people who scan your codes. The Assistant can create agents and Chat bot steps for you, and both are also available through the API and the MCP server.
