# One QR Code for iPhone and Android, by Country or Time of Day

> Send iPhone scans to the App Store and Android scans to Google Play from one QR code, or route by country or time of day. How it works in Linkbreakers, free plan included.

QR code routing

# One QR code. App Store on iPhone, Google Play on Android.

Yes, one printed QR code can send iPhone users to the App Store and Android users to Google Play. In Linkbreakers you add a **Device Platform condition** to the code's workflow. The same code can also route **by country** and **by time of day**.

Where should everyone else go?

You add the App Store and Google Play links in the next step, in the workflow.

## How do I make one QR code send iPhone users to the App Store and Android users to Google Play?

Use a dynamic QR code whose link checks the phone's operating system at the moment of the scan. In Linkbreakers that is a Device Platform condition: iOS goes to your App Store link, Android to your Google Play link, and every other system to a fallback page you choose.

In Linkbreakers

1. 1Create a QR code that points at your website. That link becomes the fallback.
2. 2Open the link's workflow and add Condition, then Device Condition, then Device Platform.
3. 3Add iOS and Android. Connect iOS to a Redirect step with your App Store URL and Android to a Redirect step with your Google Play URL.
4. 4Connect Other Platforms to your website, or to a Social Links Page showing both store buttons.

Other Platforms is where Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS go, along with any phone whose system cannot be identified, so always give it a destination.

## Can one QR code redirect to different pages depending on the visitor's country?

Yes. Add a Country Condition to the code's workflow and pick the countries you care about. Each country gets its own exit, and Other Countries catches everyone else. The country comes from the IP address of the scan, so a visitor on a VPN is routed by the VPN's country.

In Linkbreakers

1. 1Open the link's workflow and add Condition, then Country Condition.
2. 2Add each country, for example France, Germany and the United States.
3. 3Connect each country to the page in its language, and Other Countries to your international page.

The lookup runs on our servers against MaxMind's GeoLite2 database, using the two-letter ISO country code.

## Is there a QR code that shows different content depending on the time of day?

Yes. Add a Schedule Condition, then Time of Day, and give each range a start and an end time in 24-hour format, such as 11:00 to 15:00 for the lunch menu and 18:00 to 22:30 for dinner. The time is the visitor's local time: the timezone of their IP address, then your workspace's timezone if that is unknown, then UTC.

In Linkbreakers

1. 1Open the link's workflow and add Condition, then Schedule Condition, then Time of Day.
2. 2Add a range for each period and connect it to its page.
3. 3Connect the fallback to what scanners should see outside every range.

A range runs inside one day, so 22:00 to 06:00 never matches. For a night menu, add two ranges: 22:00 to 23:59 and 00:00 to 06:00\. Day of Week, Day of Month and Specific Date work the same way.

How it works

## The code never changes. The workflow behind it decides.

A Linkbreakers QR code encodes a short link, and the link runs a workflow on every scan. A condition step reads the scan, its operating system, country or local time, and sends it down one exit. Each exit leads to a page, a redirect, a form or another condition.

Conditions available today: Device Platform (iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS), Device Type (mobile, desktop, tablet), Browser, Device Brand, Country, Time of Day, Day of Week, Day of Month, Specific Date and first or returning visit.

What we measured

## Roughly one scan in ten is neither iPhone nor Android.

Operating systems of 43,841 human scans of Linkbreakers QR codes, across 636 workspaces and 110 countries, from 27 July to 25 October 2026\. Bots excluded.

62.9%

iOS

27.0%

Android

8.3%

Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS

1.8%

That share is why the Other branch matters. A code that only handles iOS and Android still meets computers, and phones whose system the browser does not report.

FAQ

## Frequently asked questions

Routing one QR code, in practice.

Can I combine device, country and time on the same QR code?

Yes. Any exit of a condition can lead to another condition, so Android scans can be split by country, and those by time of day. A scan passes through up to eight conditions in a row before it reaches a page.

What happens when someone opens the link on a computer?

A Device Platform condition sends Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS to Other Platforms. If you would rather split by form factor, the Device Type condition separates Mobile, Desktop and Tablet.

Can I change the App Store or Google Play link after printing?

Yes. The QR code encodes a Linkbreakers link, not the destinations, so you can edit any branch of the workflow at any time and every printed copy follows.

Can I see which route each scan took?

Yes. Every scan is recorded with its device, operating system, country and time, and the live view shows each routing step the scan went through on its way to the destination.

What if a branch is left unconnected?

A scan that reaches an unconnected branch goes to the link's fallback destination. Connecting every branch, including the Other branch, keeps the routing deliberate.

Is routing by device, country or time free?

Country, device and time conditions are included in every Linkbreakers plan, the free plan among them. Paid plans add custom domains, more links and higher limits.
