# Agents and the Chat bot step

> Build agents, chat personas with a role, a tone, rules and knowledge, and plug them into the new Chat bot step: visitors chat with your agent after a scan, and the answers it collects are saved on their profile.

## Short answer

Workspaces can now build **agents**: chat personas with a role, a tone, rules they never break and knowledge written in Markdown. The new **Chat bot** workflow step puts one of them in front of the visitors of a QR code or link. The agent answers their questions, asks for the details you need one at a time, and saves each answer on the visitor's profile. The workflow then goes on along **Completed** or **Not completed**.

## What we shipped

### Agents

**Agents** is a new section in the dashboard menu. Each agent has a name, a role, a tone, a reply length, a language, guardrails and knowledge documents, almost all picked from presets. One agent can run the chat on many links. [How to create an agent](https://linkbreakers.com/help/article/how-to-create-an-agent).

### The Chat bot step

Add it from the workflow editor's interaction steps, pick or create an agent, and list what it should learn with a short explanation for each item. The chat uses your page theme. Visitors who already gave the required answers can skip it, and a message limit keeps every chat short. ### Everywhere the rest of Linkbreakers is

Each chat shows in the visit's activity timeline with its answers and the full conversation, and in Slack notifications and webhooks. Agents and Chat bot steps are available through the API, the MCP server and the Assistant.

## Frequently asked questions

### What does it cost?

Each message an agent answers costs platform credits, based on what the AI model used: about 15 credits for a typical message, never more than 100. When a workspace is out of credits, visitors skip the chat and the QR code keeps working.

### Which plans have it?

Every plan.

### Is an agent the same as the Assistant?

No. The Assistant helps you inside Linkbreakers. An agent talks to your visitors.
