# Linkbreakers vs Bouncy: in-app browser links for Instagram and TikTok

> Bouncy pushes visitors out of the Instagram and TikTok in-app browsers into their real browser. Linkbreakers does not escape: it detects which app's in-app browser opened the link on every visit, reports it and routes on it inside a workflow. Prices, limits and when to choose each, from each product's own pages.

## Short answer

**Choose Bouncy** if what you want is for people who tap your Instagram bio link to land in Safari or Chrome, signed in, with Apple Pay and saved passwords working. That is the one job Bouncy is built for, and Linkbreakers does not do it: it has no automatic escape.

**Choose Linkbreakers** if you need to know which app every visitor opened your link in, and to do something different for each: a page for in-app visitors asking them to open the link in their browser, a separate path for TikTok, a form before a checkout that would break, the visit posted to your CRM by webhook. Linkbreakers detects the in-app browser on every visit and records the app (Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, Threads, TikTok, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Pinterest, X, WeChat, LINE, the Google app or another web view).

On price, Bouncy's free plan covers 1 link in its Conservative mode without analytics, and paid plans start at $35 a month for 5 links (annual billing is half price).

Linkbreakers is free to start ($0, credits for 5 new links a month), Light costs $7.90 a month or $5.90 billed yearly, and Pro $34.90 or $24.90. Bouncy's prices were read on its own pages on 2026-11-03.

## What Bouncy does well

Bouncy is the most established of the in-app escape tools: a help center, API documentation, a blog, a domain registered in 2023, and a claim of "20,000+ creators & brands" on its home page. You paste a destination, get a short link on `bouncy.ai` or your own domain, and put it in your bio, a story sticker or an ad. Bouncy says it is "built to open the destination in the visitor's own browser or app, where saved logins and one-tap checkout work."

It is also candid about what it cannot do. On TikTok: "No tool can silently teleport a TikTok visitor into Safari. Anyone promising fully automatic TikTok escape is overselling", so TikTok visitors get a "press and hold" page. On Instagram: "Instagram changes how its app handles links from time to time, and no link tool controls that."

Its home page quotes large gains ("recovering up to 70% of lost traffic", "Average 47% conversion increase"). These come from Bouncy's own customers, without a published method; Bouncy itself suggests comparing your sales before and after.

## What Linkbreakers does instead

Linkbreakers does not try to leave the in-app browser. It tells you that you are in one, and which, and lets you decide.

**Detection on every visit.** Each visit records whether it was opened in an in-app browser, which app, and the details its user agent carries. You see it in Live, on each visitor and device, in an "In-app browser" breakdown in analytics, in CSV exports and in every [webhook](/help/article/how-do-webhooks-work-in-linkbreakers). A referrer report cannot do this when the app sends no referrer; the user agent is there on every request.

**Routing on it.** The [Browser condition](/help/article/how-to-use-device-conditions) takes in-app values. An in-app visit matches only those: the Instagram in-app browser on an iPhone is not "Safari". A typical bio-link workflow:

1. Browser condition: **Any in-app browser** goes to step 2, everyone else to the destination.
2. Browser condition again: **TikTok** goes to a [message page](/help/article/how-to-create-a-message-page) that explains where TikTok's own "open in browser" option is; **Instagram**, **Facebook**, **Messenger** and **Threads**, one option each, to the same page with Instagram's steps.
3. A button on each page continues to the destination for visitors who would rather stay in the app.

You can also skip steps that break in web views, such as adding a pass to Apple Wallet or downloading a file, for in-app visitors only, or ask for an email with a [form](/help/article/how-to-create-a-form) before a checkout that would lose the session.

**Your own data.** Retargeting pixels (Meta, Google, TikTok, LinkedIn, Google Tag Manager) fire for people, never for bots. Until this release, Linkbreakers counted Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest and TikTok in-app visitors as bots, so they fired no pixel and were left out of human analytics; detecting the in-app browser fixed that.

## When to choose Bouncy

- **All you need is a one-tap (or no-tap) escape on a bio link.** Bouncy does that with a single setting; on Linkbreakers you would build a message page and the visitor would still have to use the app's menu.
- **Your sales happen on a checkout that needs saved cards or a login**, and you want the escape modes Bouncy tunes for each app.
- **You want to keep your Linktree or Beacons page** and only wrap it. Bouncy's own guide points the deeplink at your existing page.
- **You already use its Shopify revenue attribution.**

## When to choose Linkbreakers

- **You need to know which app each visit came from**, including from apps that send no referrer, in analytics, exports and webhooks.
- **Different apps should get different paths:** TikTok's page, Meta's page, a skipped Wallet step.
- **The link should do more than redirect:** a form, a qualifying question, routing by country or language, a contact card.
- **Visits must reach your systems** through webhooks, the REST API, SDKs or the [MCP server](/help/article/mcp-server-setup), on the Free plan.

## Using both

They do not exclude each other. If a Bouncy link points at a Linkbreakers link, Bouncy handles the escape and Linkbreakers runs the workflow in whichever browser the visitor ends up in. Visitors who escaped will show in Linkbreakers as Safari or Chrome, not as an in-app browser.

## Limits and caveats

- **No tool escapes every app.** Bouncy says TikTok cannot be escaped silently; U2L and Linkly say iOS always needs a tap. Test on your own phone.
- **Linkbreakers does not escape at all.** The page asking visitors to open the link in their browser is one you write.
- **Bouncy's pricing page did not render for us;** its prices come from its own blog post of 2026-10-11, linked below.
- **Linkbreakers analytics retention:** 2 weeks on Free, 3 months on Light, 2 years on Pro.
- **We make Linkbreakers.** Bouncy facts are quoted from Bouncy's own pages.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does Bouncy show which app a click came from?

Its analytics show traffic sources by referring domain, such as `instagram.com`, and how many visitors opened in the real browser. We found no field naming the in-app browser itself in its API docs.

### Can Linkbreakers open my link in Safari from Instagram?

No. It detects the Instagram in-app browser and can show a page asking the visitor to open the link in Safari, or send them somewhere else. Leaving the app takes the visitor's tap on Instagram's menu.

### Is Bouncy free?

For one link, in Conservative mode, without analytics. Analytics, other modes and your own domain start at $35 a month, or half that billed yearly.

### Can I use Bouncy and Linkbreakers together?

Yes. Point the Bouncy link at the Linkbreakers link. Bouncy escapes the in-app browser where it can, and the Linkbreakers workflow runs in the browser the visitor lands in.
