Short answer

Your QR codes and links never stop working because of a plan limit. Reaching a monthly limit pauses one thing until the first day of next month, in your workspace's timezone: showing new journeys, answering API calls, or spending platform credits. Visits past the tracked journeys limit are still recorded and are locked until you upgrade. Reaching a total, such as team members or custom domains, only stops you adding more. The dashboard tells you when it happens, says until when, and shows the plan that raises the limit. You can upgrade, top up credits, or wait for the reset.

Quick summary

  • Tracked journeys (500 a month on Free, 5,000 on Light, 50,000 on Pro): scans keep redirecting and every visit is still recorded, but journeys after the limit are locked until you upgrade. Locked journeys are not sent to your integrations.
  • Public API calls (250 a month on Free, 5,000 on Light, 10,000 on Pro): calls made with API tokens are refused until the reset.
  • Platform credits (5,000 a month on Free, 30,000 on Light, 250,000 on Pro): creating links and AI features stop once fewer credits are left than the cheapest of them costs, until the reset or a top-up.
  • Custom domains, team members and webhooks are totals: you keep what you have and cannot add more.
  • Enterprise has no monthly caps. It is billed on usage and priced on request.

Monthly limits

Monthly limits refill on the first day of each calendar month, at midnight in your workspace timezone. They do not follow the day you signed up or upgraded.

Tracked journeys

A tracked journey is one visit to a QR code or link, with everything the visitor does until the last redirection. Free includes 500 a month, Light 5,000 and Pro 50,000.

When the month's journeys are used up, nothing breaks. Visitors who scan your QR codes or open your links are still sent where they should go, with your workflow running as usual, and every visit is still recorded.

The visits past the allowance are locked:

  • They are hidden from your analytics, visitors list, exports, the API, the MCP server and the Assistant. The dashboard shows how many are waiting.
  • They are not sent to webhooks, Slack, Zapier or any other integration, and they are not resent later.
  • Upgrading to a plan with a higher allowance reveals every locked visit at once, including the ones from earlier months.
  • When the allowance refills on the first of the month, new visits are visible again. Visits locked before stay locked until you upgrade. See Are scans unlimited on Linkbreakers.

Public API calls

Requests made with your workspace's API tokens count against a monthly allowance: 250 on Free, 5,000 on Light and 10,000 on Pro. Past it, the API answers 429 Too Many Requests with the code MAX_PUBLIC_API_QUERIED_REACHED until the reset. Using the dashboard does not count. A separate per-minute rate limit applies to every token; see How to use the Linkbreakers API.

Platform credits

Platform credits pay for creating links and QR codes and for AI features such as the Assistant and dashboard generation. Free includes 5,000 a month, Light 30,000 and Pro 250,000. A link costs 1,000 credits, so the monthly credits pay for 5 links on Free, 30 on Light and 250 on Pro if you spend them on nothing else.

Credits count as used up once fewer are left than the cheapest credit-spending action needs, which can happen before the balance reaches zero. Purchased top-up credits are spent once the monthly credits run out, and they do not expire at the end of the month.

Totals that do not reset

Limit Free Light Pro
Custom domains 1 2 5
Team members 1 5 15
Webhooks 1 3 10

Reaching one of these only stops you adding another: connecting a domain, inviting a member or creating a webhook. Everything already set up keeps working. Removing one frees its place.

Trials and sponsored workspaces

A Pro trial gets Pro's limits, except for webhooks and the Assistant rate, which stay at the Free plan's 1 webhook and 5 Assistant messages per minute until you subscribe. Sponsored workspaces have their own allowances. In every case, the dashboard and the API (GET /v1/allowances) report the limits your workspace actually has.

How you find out

When a monthly limit is reached, the dashboard shows a message naming the limit, the day it refills and the cheapest plan that raises it. You can dismiss it for the rest of the month; a reminder stays in the header bar. Admins and technical members see an upgrade button; viewers are asked to contact an admin.

You can check usage at any time in the dashboard, or with the allowances_list tool in the MCP server and the Assistant.

Raising a limit

  • Upgrade. Light and Pro raise every limit, and the new limits apply as soon as the subscription is confirmed. See Free plan vs Pro plan and the pricing page.
  • Top up credits. If credits are the only limit you reach, a top-up is often cheaper than a bigger plan.
  • Wait for the reset. For a one-off spike in journeys or API calls, the allowance refills on the first of the month. Journeys locked before the reset stay locked until you upgrade.
  • Enterprise. No monthly caps, billed on usage, priced on request through [email protected].

Frequently asked questions

Will my QR codes stop working when I reach a limit?

No. No plan limit ever stops a QR code or link from redirecting. Reaching the tracked journeys limit does not stop recording either: new visits are recorded and locked until you upgrade.

When do monthly limits reset?

On the first day of each month at midnight in your workspace timezone, whatever day you signed up or upgraded.

Why does it say my credits are used up when I still have some?

Credits count as used up once fewer are left than the cheapest action that spends them needs. A balance that cannot pay for anything is shown as used up so you are not surprised by a refused action.

Does upgrading take effect immediately?

Yes. The new plan's limits apply as soon as the subscription is confirmed, including for anything you were blocked on. Visits locked under your previous plan become visible right away.

Can I stop seeing the limit message?

Yes. Choose "Not now" and it stays hidden for you until the limit refills. It reappears if a limit is reached again in a later month.
