What's a page theme template?

Short answer

A page theme template is reusable page styling: canvas colour, interactive element colour, typography, container, and optionally a cover image and badge. Apply one to any link and its page picks up that look immediately. You can save your own, publish it so anyone can find it in the public gallery, and import templates other workspaces have published.

How it works

Applying a template

Open a link's page theme editor and choose Themes. The gallery shows the templates you own, the official Linkbreakers ones, and templates other workspaces have published, ordered so the ones you already use come first.

Picking one copies its styling onto the link. You can keep editing afterwards; the template is unaffected.

Saving your own

In the page theme editor, choose Save as template. Give it a name, a description and some tags. The template takes a copy of the current styling, so you can carry on editing the link without changing what you saved.

Publishing

Open Page Themes in the dashboard, edit the template, and give it a slug. Then publish it. It appears at linkbreakers.com/page-themes/your-slug with its description, learn more copy and FAQ, credited to your workspace.

Your workspace profile has to be public before a template can be published.

Importing

If you find a published template you want to build on, import it by slug from the dashboard. You get your own copy, and any cover or badge images are copied into your workspace so the theme stays intact.

Frequently asked questions

What happened to the page theme presets?

They are still here, as official templates. Everything that used to be a preset is now browsable, searchable and taggable, and sits in the same gallery as templates you and other people create.

If I delete a template, do the pages using it change?

No. Applying a template copies the styling into each link's own theme, so a link never depends on the template afterwards. Deleting one only removes it from your gallery.

If I edit a template, do existing pages update?

No, for the same reason. Editing a template changes what future applications of it look like. To restyle an existing page, apply the template to it again.

Can I use someone else's cover image?

Yes. Applying or importing a template that carries a cover or badge copies those images into your workspace, so they keep working and appear in your media library.

Does a template carry the whole page?

It carries styling, not content. Your headline, links and workflow steps are yours; the template sets how they look.
