Short answer
A message page is a workflow step that displays an informational screen to visitors before they continue to the next step. It shows a customizable title and description, then lets the visitor proceed either by clicking a button or by waiting for a countdown timer to expire. Use it for important notices, processing screens, consent gates, or any situation where you want to pause the journey with a message.
Quick summary
- Add a message page between any two steps in your workflow
- Display a customizable title and optional description
- Choose how visitors proceed: Button (click to continue) or Timer (auto-redirect after countdown)
- Button label is customizable (defaults to "Continue")
- Timer duration is configurable in seconds (e.g. 5 seconds)
- Automatically styled with your link's page theme
- Connected to exactly one next step — the visitor always moves forward
What is a message page
A message page is a mid-flow step that pauses the visitor journey to show a message. Unlike a thank you page (which ends the journey), a message page always leads to a next step. The visitor either clicks a button or waits for a timer to proceed.
Common use cases:
- Consent or terms notice: "By continuing, you agree to our terms" with an "I agree" button
- Processing screen: "Please wait while we prepare your results" with a 5-second timer
- Welcome message: "Welcome! Here's what to expect" with a "Get started" button
- Countdown redirect: "You'll be redirected in 3 seconds..." with an auto-timer
- Important notice: "This offer expires at midnight" with a "Continue" button
How to add a message page
From the workflow editor
- Open any link's workflow in the dashboard
- Click a connector between two existing steps
- Select Message Page from the interaction steps category
- Configure the title, description, and navigation type
- Click Create to add it to the workflow
- Connect the message page to the next step if not auto-connected
From the AI builder
Ask the AI to include a message page in your workflow:
- "Add a message page before the form saying 'Please fill out the following survey'"
- "Add a 5-second countdown page after the form before redirecting to my website"
- "Show a consent notice with an 'I agree' button before the contact card"
Navigation types
Button
The visitor sees a styled button and must click it to proceed. This is the default navigation type.
- Button label: Customize the text (default: "Continue"). Use labels like "I agree", "Get started", "Next", or "Continue to form".
- Use when: You want the visitor to actively acknowledge the message before proceeding.
Timer
The visitor sees a countdown and is automatically redirected when it reaches zero.
- Timer seconds: Set the duration (e.g. 3, 5, or 10 seconds).
- Use when: You want a hands-free transition — the visitor sees the message briefly and is automatically moved forward.
Customization
Title
The main heading displayed on the page. Required.
Description
Optional text below the title for additional context or instructions.
Page theme
The message page uses your link's page theme. The button (in button mode) is styled with your theme's accent color.
FAQ
What's the difference between a message page and a thank you page?
A thank you page is an exit step — the journey ends there. A message page is an interaction step — it always connects to a next step and the visitor moves forward via button click or timer.
Can I use a message page as the last step?
No — a message page requires a connection to a next step. If you want a terminal message, use a thank you page instead.
Does the timer show a visual countdown?
Yes. Visitors see a text countdown like "Redirecting in 5... 4... 3..." that updates every second.
Can I combine both navigation types?
Not on the same step. Each message page uses either a button or a timer, not both. If you need both options, create two message pages on different branches using conditions.
Limits and caveats
- Title is required
- Navigation type must be either BUTTON or TIMER
- Timer seconds must be greater than 0 (recommended range: 3-10 seconds)
- A message page must be connected to exactly one next step
- Button label defaults to "Continue" if not specified
