How to create a new QR Code in Linkbreakers

Updated July 15, 2025Dashboard Documentation

Creating a QR Code with Linkbreakers is quick and gives you full control, from destination management to tracking and design. Whether you’re promoting an event, product, or social link, here’s how to generate a new QR Code in a few simple steps.

1. Go to your QR Codes dashboard

After logging in to Linkbreakers, head to the QR Codes section in the main menu. This is where all of your existing QR Codes live, and where you’ll create new ones.

2. Add a QR Code section

In the top-right corner of the dashboard, click the “Add new QR Code” button.

This will open the QR Code setup panel — your starting point for setting up what your QR Code will point to and how it behaves.

3. Enter the destination URL

In the Destination URL field, paste the link you want your QR Code to lead to. This can be anything; a website, form, PDF, video, or even an app store listing.

You can change this later at any time. QR Codes in Linkbreakers are editable, so you never lose flexibility once they’re in use.

4. Customize your QR Code (Optional)

You have the option to personalize your QR Code before generating it:

  • Name (for internal reference)
  • Custom short link (slug) if your QR Code is paired with a short URL
  • Tags to help organize and filter later

5. Create it

Once everything looks good, click the “Generate QR Code now” button. Your QR Code will be generated instantly with a default design.

You’ll be redirected to the QR Code design page, where you can fully customize the design of the QR Code.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change where my QR Code goes after printing it?

Yes! Every QR Code you create with Linkbreakers is dynamic, meaning you can update the destination URL even after the QR Code is live and in use.

Does it track scans?

Absolutely. You get full analytics on every QR Code, including the number of scans, location, device type, and more.

How many QR Codes can I make?

It depends on your plan, but you can try and play around on all plan tiers including the free one.

If you have any questions or need help customizing your QR Codes, feel free to reach out through our live chat or visit the Help Center.

Do QR Codes expire?

No, QR Codes created with Linkbreakers do not expire by default.

Once you generate a QR Code, it will remain active and scannable for as long as you need it. Even if you share it in print, on packaging, or signage, it will continue to work unless you manually deactivate or delete it.

You can also set optional expiration rules (for example, if you only want a QR Code to be valid for a limited time), but that’s completely up to you.

Are the QR Codes tested for reliability?

All QR Codes generated by Linkbreakers are compliant with international standards and tested to ensure scannability across devices and apps. You can download them in high-quality formats (PNG, SVG) for both print and digital use.

Can I use QR Codes offline?

Yes, once downloaded, your QR Code works without needing internet access on your end. However, users scanning the code will need an internet connection to visit the destination URL.

Can I organize QR Codes by project or team?

Yes, with Linkbreakers’ tags and (if on a team plan) shared workspaces, you can organize, search, and filter your QR Codes for better team collaboration and project clarity.

Can I customize the design of my QR Code?

Yes! You can personalize your QR Codes with:

  • Custom colors
  • Embedded logos or icons
  • Eye shape and pattern styles
  • Transparent backgrounds (SVG format)

This feature is especially useful for brand alignment and marketing use cases.
